The InfoCons – USVT Delegation Visits University College London (UCL) as Part of the ProEduHub Project
The delegation comprising representatives of InfoCons and the „King Mihai I” University of Life Sciences from Timișoara (USVT) is visiting University College London (UCL) today, 13 July 2026. Recognized as one of the world’s leading universities, UCL is hosting the delegation as part of the series of activities taking place in the United Kingdom under the ProEduHub project. The visit marks an important step in bringing young Romanians living abroad closer to academic excellence and to the higher education opportunities available in Romania.
ProEduHub – Building a Bridge Between the Romanian Diaspora and Higher Education in Romania
ProEduHub is the first initiative launched by InfoCons specifically dedicated to helping young Romanians living abroad gain easier access to higher education in Romania. The project focuses on education, information, and awareness, highlighting the importance of access to education and the role of higher and technical education in improving quality of life and supporting professional development.
The platform is designed primarily for young Romanians who were born or raised outside Romania and aims to facilitate their access to Romanian universities by providing guidance throughout the information, orientation, and application process.
Institutional estimates indicate that between 5.7 and 6.5 million Romanians live abroad, while international estimates suggest that between 30,000 and 50,000 Romanian students are currently pursuing higher education outside the country. Against this backdrop, ProEduHub seeks to reconnect young people with Romania’s education system while simultaneously promoting Romanian higher education internationally. The visit to the United Kingdom transforms these objectives from an online initiative into direct, face-to-face engagement with the Romanian community, the academic environment, and institutional partners.
Objectives of the UCL Visit
The visit to University College London was aimed at strengthening ties between the Romanian and British academic communities, exchanging best practices in the organization of higher education, and exploring potential avenues for future academic cooperation.
At a time when student mobility continues to increase, dialogue between Romanian universities and globally renowned institutions such as UCL plays a vital role in enhancing the visibility and attractiveness of Romania’s higher education offering.
For the ProEduHub delegation, the meeting also provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the expectations and needs of young Romanians who are studying—or planning to study—abroad. Understanding these perspectives enables the project team to further adapt its tools—from information and guidance services to internship, practical training, and scholarship opportunities—so that they better reflect the realities and aspirations of young members of the Romanian diaspora.
